From Industry Experience to Building Diet Univeerse: The Vision of Founder Sumit Rawal

Behind every structured company lies years of unseen groundwork, experimentation, and first-hand exposure to industry realities. For Sumit Rawal, the founder of Diet Univeerse, the journey from working within India’s nutrition and fitness ecosystem to building a scalable nutrition brand was shaped by over a decade of experience across clinics, gyms, and health & wellness organizations.

With more than 12 years of industry exposure, Rawal worked across reputed clinics, large-format gym chains, and established wellness brands, gradually understanding both sides of the system—the challenges faced by clients and the limitations experienced by nutrition professionals working within unstructured environments.

Understanding the Real Gaps in the Industry

During his professional journey, Rawal observed that the nutrition industry often operated without systems. Professionals were overworked, clients were underserved, and outcomes depended more on individual capacity than on structured processes.

“In many setups, a single professional was expected to manage an unsustainable number of clients. This affected follow-ups, delayed responses, and ultimately, client results. At the same time, dietitians lacked professional growth, mentorship, and long-term career direction,” Rawal shares.

He also noticed that clients frequently paid premium fees while continuing to incur additional costs for repeated blood tests, supplements, food trials, and extended consultations—making nutrition coaching inaccessible for a large segment of the population.

Education, Experience, and Perspective

Rawal’s academic background includes an MSc in Nutrition, supported by multiple Indian and international certifications, including Precision Nutrition (Level 1 & 2), ISSA Sports Nutrition, ISSA Fitness Nutrition, ISSA Strength & Conditioning, ACE CPT, Certified Sports Medicine, and Certified Anabolic & Androgenic Specialization, among others.

Beyond formal education, his exposure to multiple reputed gym chains and wellness organizations, as well as senior operational roles within health-focused companies, provided him with a practical understanding of how nutrition services are delivered, managed, and scaled.

“Working across different environments helped me understand not just nutrition science, but also people—clients, professionals, and systems. That perspective shaped how Diet Univeerse was eventually built,” he explains.

The Birth of Diet Univeerse

In 2021, Rawal launched Diet Univeerse as an online-first nutrition coaching platform, with a clear intent—to move away from individual-dependent models and create a process-driven, team-based nutrition ecosystem.

The idea was not only to improve client outcomes but also to create a professional environment where qualified dietitians could build meaningful careers, receive mentorship, and grow as part of a structured organization.

Today, Diet Univeerse operates with an official head office in Abu Road (Mount Abu region) and supports clients across multiple regions in India through its digital infrastructure, including dietuniveerse.com and its ISO-certified digital systems with Android and iOS applications.

A Brand Built on Systems, Not Individuals

Unlike influencer-led or personality-driven nutrition platforms, Diet Univeerse functions through a structured support model. Clients are guided by MSc-qualified dietitians, supported by dedicated relationship managers, and tracked through technology-enabled systems that ensure accountability, continuity, and transparency.

The brand works across a wide range of nutrition needs, including weight management, muscle gain, sports nutrition, lifestyle correction, and medical nutrition, supporting individuals with conditions such as PCOD, thyroid disorders, diabetes, cholesterol imbalance, pregnancy nutrition, and post-partum recovery.

Leadership and Execution

While Sumit Rawal, as Founder, focuses on long-term vision, systems, and strategic expansion, the company’s day-to-day operations are led by Sonia Malhotra, CEO & Co-Founder, an MSc Clinical Nutritionist with over 8 years of experience in female hormonal health and clinical nutrition.

Her leadership ensures operational consistency, clinical quality, and structured execution across teams, allowing the organization to scale without compromising service standards.

Looking Ahead

With a growing team of 50+ in-house and remote professionals, Diet Univeerse continues to expand its reach across multiple Indian regions while also supporting international clients through dedicated service structures. The brand’s roadmap includes further expansion into key urban markets, alongside continuous investment in systems, talent development, and technology.

“Diet Univeerse was built with a long-term mindset. The goal is to create a brand that delivers consistent results for clients and meaningful growth opportunities for professionals—without compromising on ethics or affordability,” Rawal concludes.
