From the Soil of Bagwara to Global Markets: The ₹35 Crore Empire of Mukesh Bahrod and SOVAM AYURVEDA

Neha Joshi March 27, 2026 · 3 min read

In the quiet village of Bagwara, Jaipur Distric, where life revolves around traditional farming and limited resources, one man dared to dream beyond the horizon. Mukesh Bahrod, the son of a humble farmer, has transformed from a small-town student into a global entrepreneur. Today, his brand—SOVAM AYURVEDA—is a powerhouse in the herbal industry, exporting “Made in India” wellness to 11 countries and clocking an annual turnover of over 35 Crores.

📍 The Foundation: From B.Sc. to Door-to-Door Sales (2004-2007)

Mukesh’s journey began in a government school where he balanced his studies with manual labour in the family fields.

  • In 2004, he completed his Graduation (B.Sc. Biology), a foundation that would later fuel his expertise in Ayurveda.
  • Between 2005 and 2007, he pursued his MBA, a bold move given his family’s modest financial standing.

To fund his education and daily expenses, Mukesh worked part-time as a door-to-door salesman, selling landline phones across Jaipur. Earning just ₹100–200 a day, he faced countless rejections. Little did he know, those sun-drenched streets were his real “Business School,” teaching him the art of persistence and the psychology of sales.

📍 The 2,000 Crore Lesson: A Missed Opportunity

After a brief stint in the private sector and even securing a prestigious Government Job in the Rural Department, Mukesh’s entrepreneurial spirit remained restless. In 2010, while sitting at a roadside tea stall, he witnessed a demo of an induction cooker. Spotting an immediate opportunity, he quit his secure job and started his first venture, Crystal Home Appliances, with just ₹30,000.

However, his biggest lesson came when his clients requested herbal products. Lacking manufacturing facilities, Mukesh referred them to a business associate. That associate went on to build a 2,000 Crore empire using those very leads. While many would have been discouraged, Mukesh took it as a wake-up call. He vowed: “The next time an opportunity knocks, I will be the manufacturer, not just the middleman.”

“To become big, you don’t need massive resources; you need one courageous decision taken at the right time.”Mukesh Bahrod, Founder, Sovam Ayurveda.

📍 The Rise of SOVAM AYURVEDA: A Global Revolution

Driven by that ‘missed opportunity,’ Mukesh pivoted toward manufacturing.

  • 2016: Incorporation of SOVAM CROP SCIENCE PVT. LTD.
  • 2018: Started the first factory in a small rented space with a modest production of ₹30–35 Lakhs.
  • The Pandemic Pivot: During COVID-19, while the world slowed down, Mukesh scaled up. Recognizing the surge in demand for immunity and wellness, he transitioned into Third-Party Manufacturing, turning Sovam into a manufacturing hub for top brands.

Today, Sovam Ayurveda operates 3 state-of-the-art factories and 2 corporate offices. They manufacture over 1,000 varieties of Ayurvedic products for more than 500 companies.
